There were two religious pantheons of Skyrim, both worshiped in different time periods throughout Skyrim's history. The first was the Ancient Nordic Pantheon, worshiped during the Merethic and early First Era. The second was the Nordic Pantheon, revered during the rest of Skyrim's history.

There are five major religious groups: Polytheistic, Occult, Elemental, Daedra, and Harmony with their own subgroups. Each religion may diplomatically form a personal union within their own religious group provided certain criteria are met.

At the start of your playthrough (after the intro sequence or when you reach level 2, same as Survival Mode), a dialog box appears, allowing you to choose a deity based on your race. This represents the religion your character followed before they arrived in Skyrim.

Historically, Orsimer and Dunmer were commonly Daedra worshipers, but that has changed recently; The Orcs (Orsimer) who lived in Orsinium mostly worship Trinimac, the former Aedric incarnation of Malacath from before the Velothi exodus, while Imperial missions into Morrowind have won converts to the Church of the Nine ...

As the majority religion in Cyrodiil, it is more commonly known in that province simply as the Church or the Chapel. After the apotheosis of Tiber Septim, Imperials began to spread belief in the Nine Divines, incorporating worship of the Empire's god-hero Talos.

Akatosh is considered the chief deity of the Elder Scrolls universe. He is thought to have been the first of the gods to emerge from the Beginning Place. And while not every race worships Akatosh, everyone acknowledges his existence.

Elder Scrolls have five kinds of gods. The primordial gods are gods of creation. Anu (Stasis) and Padomay (Change), and also Lorkhan, the god of mortals. These gods are probably all dead as they killed each other.

Pick Imperial if you want to play a character who is originally from a place aside from Skyrim, as it doesn't make sense to fight under a banner that ultimately won't accept you. Pick Stormcloak if you believe the Empire has no right to say what Skyrim denizens can and can't do, especially if you are a Nord.

The Nord is a great option for a first character. You'll be skilled at two-handed weapons, will get more money for selling loot, and have a Light Armor bonus and racial abilities that keeps you mobile and able to survive the early game. The Orc is phenomenal at surviving damage, and dealing damage in melee.

Yes, it doesn't matter who you left Helgen with at the start, you can still join either the Stormcloaks or Imperials later on. My personal preference is the Imperials, the quests are more interesting. But it's completely up to you which way you go.

Who is the nicest Daedra? ›

Holding dominion over the moment between dawn and dusk, Azura is one of the rarer Daedric Princes who has the reputation of being "good." Her desire to be loved by all mortals translates to a feeling of care and desire to protect her worshipers.

The Daedra have no set gender, they are beyond our notions of duality, including gender, morality, and so on.

While Daedra can manifest as either male or female (being, in reality, genderless), all of these high Daedra are typically referred to as "Princes."

The Empire was forced to ban Talos worship because they lost the Great War and it was one of the conditions outlined in the White-Gold Concordat.

"Diagna (Orichalc God of the Sideways Blade): Hoary thuggish cult of the Redguards. Originated in Yokuda during the Twenty Seven Snake Folk Slaughter. Diagna was an avatar of the HoonDing (the Yokudan God of Make Way, see below) that achieved permanence.

The khajiit worship the phases of Masser and Secunda, and the combination of their phases, as if they were gods. Therefore, each form/breed of khajiit has its own patron deity.

Politics and Religion

The Thalmor are the ruling party of the Aldmeri Dominion, consisting entirely of supremacist High Elves (Altmer) whose goal is to weaken the Empire and end the worship of Talos (also known as Tiber Septim, founder of the Empire), alongside wiping out the human races.

The Aldmeri Pantheon, also known as the Elven Giants, were the primary gods of the Aldmer. This pantheon was also worshiped by the Snow Elves in the Merethic Era and the early First Era.

Members of the Imperial Cult believe in the Nine Divines. The Nine Divines serve the Imperial Cult members as model for their own lives. They also believe in and preach the Nine Virtues; Humility, Inspiration, Piety, Work, Compassion, Justice, Learning, Ambition, and Civility.

Akatosh, the Dragon God of Time, is the chief deity of the Nine Divines, the official religion of the varying Cyrodiil empires, such as the Septim Empire, and Reman Dynasty. He represents the qualities of endurance, invincibility, and everlasting legitimacy.
