With most students from all over the country following the CBSE curriculum, the NCERT books are very popular among aspirants for various exams.

  • NCERT books are recommended mostly for 11th and 12th-grade students and are used widely because they have the basics necessary for the JEE Main Examination.
  • NCERT books are widely referred to for the CBSE Boards Examinations by the students.
  • These books are a little subjective and also have thought-provoking questions for better understanding.

About The NCERT Books

NCERT Books are considered the best resource material for the basics of JEE Main. NCERT books explain the topics right from the beginning so as to suit the students of classes 11 and 12 and for those who are planning to appear in JEE Mains.

  • NCERT Maths Books: NCERT books of mathematics explain the concepts behind all the mathematical topics given in the JEE Main Syllabus very well. Many basic questions and important formulae are mentioned in the NCERT Maths books based on which questions are asked in JEE Main. Explanations, derivations and theory are all very well structured to suit the students who are just beginning. (Know if RD Sharma is enough for JEE Main?)
  • NCERT Physics Books: HC Verma is widely suggested for basics but not everyone but truly speaking without proper understanding of NCERT Books of Physics HC Verma should not be referred. Beginners can absolutely use this book to strengthen their conceptual understanding and clear a lot of concept-related doubts. It's a great book to start the preparation with. It has been observed that a few concept-related questions were asked out of the NCERT Books as well.
  • NCERT Chemistry Books: NCERT Chemistry books are very important. Most JEE experts recommend NCERT books for the preparation of the chemistry section of the paper. The Inorganic section of the JEE Main chemistry section is seen to have a lot of questions straight from the NCERT books. Hence for the JEE Main exam preparation, NCERT class 11 and 12 books are widely recommended for Inorganic chemistry more specifically, though students can refer to the NCERT Books for Organic and Physical chemistry as well.
  • NCERT Summary: In all three subjects - Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, after every chapter, a summary is given. This summary perfectly briefs out the chapter in a short and crisp manner, allowing the students to have a quick overview of the topic, and quickly revise the topics. This is indeed helpful when the students want to revise the chapters quickly.
  • NCERT Solutions: NCERT Books have elaborate solutions for every question. A detailed explanation of all the questions is given which allows the students to get an idea of the concepts used to solve the problem and different methods to solve the problem. Hence JEE experts recommend NCERT solutions to get an idea about the methods to solve the questions.
  • NCERT Exemplar: Last but not the least, NCERT Exmapler problems provide questions and answers with some extended concepts so that students can practice more to excel in the examination. These questions can be practised before you attempt Previous Year questions of the IIT JEE Main exam. So to answer the question is NCERT exemplar enough for jee mains? The answer is No. You need extra resources for preparation as well.

Is NCERT Enough for JEE Main?

NCERT Books are great to cover the basic concepts but JEE Main exam is an objective exam that tests students on the basis of their conceptual knowledge, analytical skills and in-depth understanding of the concepts. Hence, NCERT Books may not be just enough for the JEE Main Exam. NCERT books do not prepare students for the objective and analytical questions that are asked in the JEE Main Examination.

NCERT is to build the concepts and is sometimes tedious. It has analytical questions but they are mostly focused on clearing the concepts and hence are pretty subjective. JEE Main demands objective questions that are critical and analytical. Hence the NCERT books aren't really enough for the complete preparation for the JEE Main Exam.

Hence, the NCERT books are excellent for building concepts but only NCERTs are not enough for the preparation for the JEE Main Exam. Students are advised to refer to other important books as well for up-to-the-mark preparation.
