(WJLA/WKRC) - How much is a stay-at-home mom worth? It's well over six figures, according to a survey.
Salary.com determined at the end of 2021 that the median annual salary of a mother, factoring in chief financial officer and chief operating officer roles, is $184,820. Additional work due to the pandemic was factored in, which added more than $6,600 from pre-pandemic times.
This does not factor in any potential premiums companies might pay like overtime or bonuses.
From 2009-15, the salary was between $112,000 and $122,000. In 2016, it had a significant increase from $113,568 to $143,102. Now it's $40,000 above that mark.
WHAT IS YOUR WORTH? TRY FOR YOURSELF DEPENDING ON HOW MANY KIDS YOU HAVE AND THEIR AGES
According to the Labor Department’s American Time Use Survey, married mothers who are not employed and have a child under age 18 spend an average of 6.17 hours daily on child care and household-related tasks. Results of the survey from Salary.com showed stay-at-home moms work an average of 106 hours per week, or just over 15 hours a day.
An analysis from Oxfam in 2020 figured out that unpaid work by women in the U.S. (such as house cleaner, cook, child care, driver, laundry service, etc.) would be worth $1.5 trillion in 2019, using minimum wage per hour for its calculations.
