A cozy Raw Winter Kasha Porridge for when you're looking for some wholesome nourishment to start your day! With seasonal flavors and homemade cranberry sauce, this gluten-free, vegan, and allergy-free breakfast is sure to be a new favorite!
I told you that you'd be seeing the in action! What better way to use it the next morning than in some breakfast porridge! Some raw winter kasha porridge to be exact! It's gluten-free, allergy-free, vegan, and of course, RAW! No cooking! I have always been intrigued by the "raw porridge" phenomenonthat all the hardcore vegan/raw dieters do, so why not give it a shot!
We all love a morning bowl of warm creamy porridge (i.e. any hot cereal that is!) From oatmeal, quinoa flakes, buckwheat cereal, creamy rice, or any grain! With this kasha porridge being raw, it's not "warm", but more like overnight oats! You soak the whole grain kasha the night before and then blend it up in a blender! Remeber, kasha is buckwheat, just toasted for more flavor.
It's definitely a fun breakfast to try out and really switch things up. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my breakfast rotation. I do like to try new things, but my staples will always be cold cereal, hot cereal, or of course, the mighty pancake! This semester in school, I have been ALL about cold cereal. It's pretty embarrassing the amount of boxes I go through. Every time I hit up the grocery store, cereal is always on the list.
Can we talk about the serving size suggestion on those nutrition labels? There are a few foods that I KNOW must have lies and false facts. Cereal and nut butter. There is no way either of those are ever accurate! Do you know how little 2 tablespoons of peanut butter is? Or ¾ cup of dry cereal!? Are you kidding me! That's literally impossible with cereal! Cereal also doesn't keep you very full for long either. So yes, I can see where some people get into trouble with cereal consumption (luckily I don't have to worry...well maybe my wallet does!)
The only person I know who eats an actual serving or so of cereal is my mom....I just don't understand that woman! She also doesn't mix cereals. I, however, never have a
mono-bowl". You can rest assured that my cereal bowl is a combo of at least 2 types, but usually 3 or 4! I do this for a few reasons. One is to bulk it up with a "healthier" or single grain cereal mixed then with a sugary "fun" one. The otherreason is, this mixing majorly cuts down of decision making. You get to have ALL the cereals with a little taste of each!
Why on Earth am I talking about boxed cereal when I'm sharing a raw porridge recipe with you today? I have no clue...I guess if boxed cereal isn't your thing or you want something more sustaining, then this kasha porridge may just make up for some cold crunchy sugary cereal! This porridge is no-cook, cold, slightly crunchy (depending on how much you blend!) and o so naturally sweet! It's wholesome and nourishing and may just fill you up for longer than 30 minutes 😉

O wait! I know! I actually broke out a blender for this one! I still need to figure out eBay and sell a few of the 7 blenders that I have and don't use (and none of which I've bought except for one!) Major fail or major win? What for sure is a win is this raw winter kasha porridge! So start soaking and know you'll have one fabulous wintery breakfast on you hands in the morning! You can blend this up the day before too or make a big batch. Whatever is easier and more accessible for delicious to greet you upon waking!
So tell me:
+ Are you a massive bowl/multiple types of cold/boxed cereal eater like I am?
+ Do your breakfast choices change with the seasons? No, I still eat chilly things in chilly weather!
