Places to go in Wynwood, Miami: Day Trip Itinerary (2024)

The neighborhood of Wynwood is primarily known for being home to the Wynwood Walls. This area, dubbed an “outdoor museum” hosts trendy shops, beautiful graffiti art, and amazing restaurants. There are so many places to go in Wynwood – keep reading for a half-day itinerary.

Top Tips for Visiting Wynwood

A couple of things to know before you go–

  1. Get there early (but not too early). The main attraction, the Wynwood Walls don’t open until 10:30 AM. Many shops and restaurants also open later (around 12 PM). We recommend arriving at around 9:30 AM to beat the crowds and grab a coffee & breakfast.
  2. Look up, down & all around. There is art on everything from dumpsters to the sidewalk. Get lost down the different streets and just discover the art!
  3. Plan to spend 3-4 hours. You’ll find that between popping into shops, and stopping to take photos of *every* wall don’t speed through the area.

About Wynwood

Visitors may not realize that Wynwood actually has a very rich history. In the late 1900s it was made up of predominantly Carribean immigrants and known as the Garment Industry. Eventually it became a place of rundown buildings and closed factories before going through a revitalization process in the early 2000s. What amazes me is all the places to go in Wynwood! It was hard to narrow it down to a select few.

Start with breakfast at MIAM CAFE

Other than being SUPER INSTAGRAMMABLE with black and white striped walls outside, MIAM Cafe is perfect for the traveler on the go. Prices were incredibly reasonable, the food was fresh & the coffee was great.

Grab a snack at the best pie in Florida: Pink Pie

Pop into Pink Pie, voted the ‘best pie shop in Florida’ for some very important AC & mini pies. Also who doesn’t love a millenial pink couch?!

Walk around, admire the artwork & pop into different shops

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but get lost down the different streets and discover what the neighborhood has to offer. A few of my favorite shops:

  • Walt Grace Vintage – A fun gallery meets vintage guitar & car space
  • Frangipani – Many items are handmade & sustainable. Perfect for picking up a gift or souvenir.
  • Museum Garage – Garage gone museum with floors of unique artwork
  • Pitusa – Women’s beachware

Have lunch at Coyo Taco

I was so bummed not being able to try Coyo Taco since every person I’ve ever talked to who’s been to Wynwood recommended it. They made the list of a must-stop because 1) I plan to be back 100% and 2) it’s incredibly cute.
