I grew up with this old school candy favorite, they were in my grandparents’ cut glass candy dishes every holiday. Each year I search high and low so I can fill my candy jars with these sweet treats.

I found this year’s candy at our local Walgreens pharmacy. If you have a Walgreens, give them a call, they might have this mix. They also carried old-fashioned ribbon candy.

My sister surprised me with two bags of Brach’s Filled Raspberries in the mail, another childhood favorite – best sister ever award!

The brand my grandparents always purchased were Brach’s – there are a few varieties: Brach’s Arabian Nights Mix, Brach’s Old-Fashioned Holiday Mix and Brachs’s Filled Red Raspberries Hard Candy.

Where You Can Find Old Fashioned Holiday Candy

Please note – I have no affiliation with any of the products/brands shared in this post. These are all cherished favorites.

Try your localpharmacies, grocery stores, Target, Walmart and mom & pop stores. Right aroundThanksgiving is when they start to show up in stores. I will say, they are not always easy to find. When welived in Ohio (9 years), I never found them in our local stores. Most years I would grab them when I was in Michigan for Thanksgiving. One year I found them at Meijer’s while shopping for Thanksgiving dinner with my sister – IpurchasedFIVE bags that year!

If this candy is a must have like it is for me, you can also find them online. The bad news, you may pay a little more because of shipping costs. Try Amazon – you may find your favorites there and score free shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member. You can also check these online stores – CandyWarehouse, Old Time Candy& O’Ryan’s Village, they carry many old fashioned favorites, including Brach’s.

We always had a Claxton fruitcake. I still buy one every year. Daddy always gave Mom a Whitman’s Sampler. Mom always had the milk chocolate covered cherries and I still buy them. My grandfather loved Coconut Bon Bons, Cream Drops and Orange Slice. I still buy them.

    I found this when I googled it….
“Hersheys bought the rights from Hollywood when this candy was discontinued. I contacted them and was told they have no plans to continue the Butternut.”

We always had Brach’s Arabian Nights Mix and ribbon candy. I haven’t seen it for sale for years. I’ve looked but not very diligently, but I will now! My mother fed our dog (s) a steady diet of Brach’s Chocolate Stars. Apparently our dogs could handle stars. Thanks for this post on Pinterest

Almost all of them on Amazon have NO flavor, just very sweet! they are nothing like Grandma’s holiday dish candy, the color in the candies are dies not a flavor, not worth the price nor the purchase (read the reviews from the ole timers, they will confirm what I’m saying) I’ll try Walgreens because about 7 years ago I got a bag from there and they were the original tasty.

Can you find Butter Nut Candy Bars? I ate those in the 60′ as a child and loved them. Now I can’t find them anywhere. I would love to have some if possible. Thank you.
