While many experts feel more research is needed on red light therapy, the current results are promising—and the anecdotal experiences I’ve had (and my mom’s had, as I’ll share in a bit) make it well worth trying in my book.

It rests on your face like any other mask and is held securely with Velcro straps that you can adjust to fit your head. When on, it emits 132 medical-grade LEDs and two clinically proven wavelengths of light—red and near-infrared—which, according to the brand, is supposed to work on a cellular level, resulting in a reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage and any other signs of aging in tandem with stimulating new collagen. How Do You Use the Omnilux Contour Face?

With a recommended use of three to five times per week for four to six weeks to see visible results, my mom found the Omnilux Contour Face device to be quite simple to operate. The flexible silicone face device comes with an attached, rechargeable battery controller that uses a USB-C line to USB-A connector and has an easy set up process. “Once the mask is in position using the Velcro straps, I push the button and the light will turn on,” she tells me. “Then, it automatically shuts off ten minutes later,” giving you ample time for a quick nap, mindful meditation or audiobook catch-up. After using, you can wipe the inside of the device clean in preparation for your next wear.

OK, but Does the Omnilux Contour Face Actually Work?

Take it from someone with beautiful, aging skin who has developed more worry lines than she’d like from raising four rowdy children: When used consistently (there’s that key word again!), the Omnilux Contour Face can improve a few problem areas on your skin. “I definitely see less wrinkles and am very impressed with my jawline area,” my mom tells me, noting that her skin’s appearance looks firmer and smoother. “The most noticeable change was in the saggy skin around the mouthline, which was great to see,” she adds. When I took to TikTok, some customers mentioned that the overall design was a bit bothersome, particularly how the battery cord is hardwired to the device, which makes it difficult to store the device flat (as directed by the brand), especially when travelling.

If you’re looking for a quick fix or want to treat blemishes, sunspots or hyperpigmentation, the Omnilux Contour Face device might not be the best investment for you, but “I definitely see an improvement in my skin,” adds my mom, referring to her wrinkles and texture.

And even after having to step away from using it for a week to serve as a caregiver for my grandparents, my mom was still able to benefit from the mask despite her sudden lack of consistency.
