Feeling frustrated, Max Verstappen and Red Bull are shaking things up after a less-than-stellar Sprint race! The São Paulo Grand Prix Sprint didn't go as planned for the reigning champion, and now the team is taking action.
Starting from a less-than-ideal sixth place, Verstappen quickly made his way up the grid, overtaking Fernando Alonso. But here's where the story gets interesting: he couldn't quite keep pace with the frontrunners. A crash involving Oscar Piastri, Franco Colapinto, and Nico Hulkenberg, brought out a red flag, giving Verstappen a chance to voice his concerns over the radio to his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase.
At the restart, Verstappen faced another challenge: getting his tires up to temperature. This put him under pressure from Alonso. Once the tires were ready, he managed to create a gap, but the podium remained out of reach.
Now, with the opportunity to make adjustments before qualifying, Verstappen confirmed that Red Bull will be modifying his RB21. The goal? To close the gap to the leading teams, like McLaren and Mercedes.
"We will make some changes," Verstappen told Sky F1. "Hopefully that will bring [the car] into a better window, and hopefully that will allow us to also then push a little bit better on the tyres." He added that he felt stuck in "no man's land" during the race, unable to keep up with the leaders.
But what changes can Red Bull make to find that extra edge? Could these adjustments be enough to challenge Mercedes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Do you think these changes will be enough to put Verstappen back on top, or is there more work to be done?
