5 Ways to Feel Confident with Your Curves

1.Eat and Sweat

The moment I realized that how I felt about my body had little to do with numbers on a scale and everything to do with how I was eating and exercising, it became so much easier to be happy with my body. I’ve realized that if I am trying to eat healthyand am working out several times a week, I feel confident, sexy, and ready to take on the world. If I eat like crap and convince myself I’m too busy to go to the gym, I usually feel chubby, lazy, and unattractive. Loving your body is all about how you feel in your own skin. If you are eating welland exercising regularly, even if you haven’t dropped a single pound, I guarantee you’ll feel healthier, slimmer, and more confident. It works, I promise. Take care of your body, and it instantly becomes easier to love it.

2.Find your look

This has always been one of my biggest messages to girls on Sassy Red Lipstick: dress for your body type! It doesn’t matter if something is trendy, if it doesn’t look flattering on you, don’t force it. I always say, one of the biggest signs of a woman who has great style is one who knows how to dress for her body type. For me, wrap dresses and body cons are flattering to my hourglass shape. As for trends that don’t look great on me, I’ve had to come to terms that cap sleeves and most baggy boyfriend-fit styles just don’t do me any favors. There are some styles that I absolutely love on other girls, only to find that they just flat out do not look good on my body type. In those cases, instead of feeling uncomfortable and stressed out, I simply say goodbye to those trends and find something else that I know will look great. One of the quickest ways to lower your self-esteem is to try and wear a style that doesn’t work for you. Wear what you can pull off, and leave the rest behind.

3.Forget About the Scale

Scales are a curvy-girl’s worst enemy. They just serve as negative reminders that you aren’t {and probably never will be} a size two. If you have a bad relationship with scales, just throw them out entirely! Stop worrying about arbitrary numbers, and start focusing on two things: how youfeeland how your clothes fit. Those two things should be the only monitor for how you feel about your body, not a scale. Try this: instead of constantly striving for a “goal weight,” stand in front of the mirror naked and look at what areas you want to improve. then develop a nutrition and workout plan that will help you achieve those goals. That way your goal is not simply to “lose 10 pounds,” it’s to get in a healthy routine! This puts much less pressure on you and helps you create positive habits.

4.Find Someone to Love Your Curves With You

As I mentioned in my popular posthonor your curvesabout my story of coming to love my body, one of the main reasons I am in this good of a place with my bodyisbecause Robbie {my husband} came into my life and loved every inch of me. I had never considered that there were men who liked women who were “sexy thick” {as Robbie likes to call me} until I met him. Having him as my support, to remind me that he thinks I’m gorgeous and that my body is beautiful, is a nice reinforcement. You should never look for your happiness in the opinions of others, but it’s nice to hear positive things about your body from someone else. It goes a long way. You don’t have to be married or in a relationship to have this person to remind you how much they think you’re beautiful, it can be a best friend or family member. If you ever need someone to give you some support, I’m here! I love talking with other girls about this subject and helping them understand that every body is beautiful and that includes theirs too. I get many private messages and emails from women who need a little love. I love that they trust me enough to share their struggles and I always reply with as much support and encouragement as they need.

5.Get Up and Get Out

When you look good, you feel good. It’s so important for your confidence to get ready for the day. Trust me, if you spend all day in sweatpants and baggy tees, you’re going to feel as lazy as you look. Even if you’re being productive at home getting things done, there’s something about being ready and put together that does wonders for your confidence. I know this is a tough one for a lot of young moms who have little ones to chase around, but trust me, if you take the time to throw yourself together, you’ll feel so much better about yourself! I’ve never been a girl to leave the house without getting ready, but since I work from home I can easily find myself in pajamas, sitting in bed working on my laptop well into the afternoon. On those days, I usually end up feeling restless and gross. On days where I get up, work out, take a shower, and then get to work, I feel like the #girlboss I’m trying to be.
