Hello aspirant,

There is no absolute requirement that you take Maths in your 12th grade year in order to pursue a BCA. However, only a few universities favour applicants who have taken maths in their senior year. This subject is taken and studied by students from all streams. But allow me to share with you something that might be a good choice for you.

See, if a student chooses mathematics as a subject, it will undoubtedly be advantageous because mathematics is used extensively in all computer-related fields, whether it is BCA or computer science and engineerin g.

Dear candidate, in maximum colleges Maths is compulsory subject required in class 11th and 12th for BCA. However, some colleges allow admissions in BCA without a Maths subject. Example: DU colleges require Maths in 11th and 12th for BCA, Christ University Bangalore do not require Maths as compulsory subject for BCA, etc.

Hi there,

There is no hard and fast rule that you have to have Math subject in class 12th in order to pursue BCA. But few universities prefer those candidate for admission who have Math in their 12th. Students from any streams take this course and study it. But let me tell you something that can be a wise decision for you.

See, if a student is having Mathematics as his/her subject then it will defenitely be beneficial because there is lot of use of Mathematics in any computer field be it BCA or Computer science and engineering, so taking Mathematics will always be a wiser decision.

Not only this some institutes takes only those students who has Mathematics in class 12th so again this is a reason why you should opt for Mathematics.

Nope! For BCA its not compulsory to have Mathematics in 10+2. The basic educational qualification eligibility criteria for the course is that the candidate must have passed 10+2 with any stream from any recognized board with at least 50% marks. But like any other Computer fields, it involves Discrete Mathematics. So if you don't have mathematics then no problem, but you have to learn mathematics in the due interval of the course.

Now most colleges offers admission on the basis of 10+2 result but some institutes conducts entrance test. Some of this entrances are:
