Clean Spanish songs are a motivational power tool to teach your students this second language.

Appropriate Spanish songs—and videos—can seem hard to find, and as a teacher you must not have enough time during the day to check each one that comes to mind or that you find on YouTube.

But don’t you worry! If you are looking for new ways to inspire your students, this is a very exciting one.

Here is a curated list of 15 songs for Spanish class with singers from different parts of the Hispanic world. Not only do they have a nice variety of rhythms, but also idioms and expressions from more than one Spanish dialect.

Many of these popular, catchy songs—they are fun and clean yet not necessarily for kids—are from 2020 and 2021, but I have also included some classics for you to enjoy.

Also, you will find a Spotify playlist at the end of this article with 70 appropriate Spanish songs to play in your classroom.

These clean Spanish songs are pop songs with a hint of other genres—as is the case of Como lo hice yo that has a chorus with regional Mexican music.

Some are perfect to dedicate in a variety of contexts. They are easy to remember and you will find yourself playing it in your house, car, and in the shower, not only the classroom.

1. Tacones Rojos (Red High Heels) – Sebastián Yatra

Tacones rojos is a very fun, dance song with a great video that will get your feet moving.

Also, the two main characters of this love story are sweet, with a chill vibe, in very cool outfits, in an amazing venue that is the Fernán Núñez Palace in Madrid, Spain.

2. Como lo hice yo (As I Did) – Matisse

Matisse is a top Mexican pop group, they specialize in really cute and sweet love songs.

Vocalist Melissa Robles has just the voice for that. But Como lo hice yo is about someone that regrets meeting the love of his life.

These desamor (heartbreak) songs are very popular and liked in Mexico, they are not considered to be strictly sad but rather something you sing along with a strong sentiment.

3. Me prometiste (You Promised Me) – Pepe Aguilar

Me prometiste is one of the best clean Spanish songs that people have on top of mind.

This video is an MTV unplugged meaning this version is very chill and happy—but it is about broken promises. It is an easy Spanish song to sing.

4. Ya no somos ni seremos (We Are Not Anymore, Nor We Will Be) – Christian Nodal

Everyone is talking about this song since it is inspired by a true celebrity love that Christian Nodal had. In this polite, clean Spanish song he says he is sorry for taking her for granted.

5. Mon Amour Remix – Zzoilo & Aitana (Letra)

A clean Spanish songs for school list wouldn’t be complete without this TikTok hit and trend.

It is romantic, cute, high-energy, and just perfect for you to start your day with your children. Chances are they are familiar with it or with its melody so half of your job is done with this one. It is a great song for high school students, preschoolers, teachers, pretty much everyone.

Iconic Clean Spanish Songs

If you are interested—or encouraging your children—in visiting Hispanic countries, you might as well learn iconic clean Spanish songs that people play and sing everywhere.

These next six songs are easy to practice and I would learn them before going anywhere in Latin America.

6. Yo quisiera (I Wish) – Reik

The word “iconic” doesn’t begin to cover this clean Spanish song. It was a hit back in the day and the beginning of a boy band era in Mexico.

Reik was all people could talk about, not only for their fresh lyrics but also because the story of the band involves them living for months outside of a Radio station waiting for their big break.

7. Vivir mi vida (Living My Life) – Marc Anthony

You just need to dance to this one. This clean Spanish song is perfect to start your wedding party—I did. It is full of life and the lyrics are about living without regrets and tears. More than a song this is a motto for lots of Latinos.

8. Te mando flores (I Send You Flowers) – Fonseca

Te mando flores is a love song about a man sending flowers to his lady—specifically Fonseca to Fanny Lu.

The lyrics are romantic with a lot of vocabulary to learn. There are also vocal bridgers to rest in between.

This is no ordinary clean Spanish song, it won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tropical Song, so take it from the experts.

9. No te pido flores (I Don’t Ask For Flowers) – Fanny Lu

Unfortunately, this is the answer to Fonseca’s song, and Fanny Lu doesn’t want the flowers. She explains in this clean Spanish song that she is not into grand gestures, but little ones. She wants to listen to love words and to feel admired by him.

10. Brillas (You Shine) – León Lárregui

From all the modern, clean Spanish songs there are, this is a short, easy-to-remember one. It has very romantic lyrics and is perfect to calm an energetic class at the end of the day.

Listening to brillas from your students will prove to be a great experience.

11. Tú eres mi sueño (You Are My Dream) – Fonseca

Normally I wouldn’t repeat a singer in a curated list, but this exception is worth it.

Tú eres mi sueño is a tropical clean Spanish song that will get you on your feet and make you start your day with the right one. But beware! This is the kind of song that can easily live inside your head for months.

Songs From Spain

Clean Spanish songs from Spain are different from the rest. Not only because of the accent, but the rhythm, idioms, and more. It is with it to get to know some of them.

12. Me muero por conocerte (I’m Dying to Know You) – Alex Ubago & Amaia Montero

Clean Spanish songs like this are extremely strong and memorable. In the beautiful soft voice of Alex Ubago and the potent one of Amaia Montero, it can really move you.

The first line of the chorus is catchy enough to make an effort to learn it all, which is great for Spanish students.

13. Magia (Magic) – Álvaro Soler

You are gonna love this clean Spanish song. Álvaro Soler has a unique high-energy style that always translates to his videos.

The first line of the chorus says: “The magic of your lips tells me about Peter Pan & Rock n Roll.”

14. Entre dos tierras (Between Two Lands) – Héroes del Silencio

This unforgettable song is a punk rock Spanish classic. The vocalist is rockstar Enrique Bunbury and in this video he has a Jimmy Hendrix or Jim Morrison vibe. It is a really cool song with strong vocals and guitar solos, perfect for teenage students.

15. Corazón Partío (Broken Heart) – Alejandro Sanz

Alejandro Sanz is one of the most likable Spanish artists of history. This is one of his first hits, before the Grammys and Shakira’s duets.

The song has a special rhythm denoting his Andalusian roots as clear as day. Singable, danceable, with plenty of vocabulary words and expressions, and with an easy chorus, making it perfect for teaching.

Do You Need Support in Your Classroom?
