Searching for references in your Mendeley library
Use the search box at the top right of the screen, next to your name. The document details as well as the body text of any PDF papers in your library will be searched.

Place your cursor where you want your citation to appear in your Word document and click on Insert Citation. Click on Go to Mendeley and from within your Mendeley library, choose the reference or references that you would like to cite. Click on the Cite icon which has appeared at the top of the page.
