Does anyone have any advice on how to handle the registry and lists of what is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED for the baby? I am finding myself completely overwhelmed and feeling guilty in putting things in the registry. SOS

I’ve been having a hard time with guilt putting things on my registry too, but I’m trying not to let it get to me. My brother in law is getting married soon and he put a freaking $1000 welder on his wedding registry, and I have a friend who unashamedly had a PUPPY SHOWER for her new puppy she is getting in a couple months ��♀️ so DON’T FEEL GUILTY! People put the craziest things on their registries, and you have every right to put things on your baby registry. I am using Babylist and kind of following their recommendations for things to put on it.

FTM mom! I researched products best for my life style, and took advice from this app, other moms and my own research, but I found it was best to ask moms, who mom the way I want to mom lol. The guilt part, I felt at first, my mom and MIL were concerned about some of my price points, but shockingly, people actually bought my most expensive items! I’d say go for it, but don’t expect to them to be purchased so budget for what you may end up having to buy. Also, for a July baby, consider that they will be 6 months in the holiday season, which is a good time to ask for items that you wanted but maybe didn’t need right away!

good point about 6 months!!! We have a play kitchen and gym on our registry and that would make good holiday gifts from the grandparents

below is my list for the first 6 months. add high chair and silicon bibs and you have my first year list. hope it helps.
there was a post somewhere where people listed how many items were on the list. most has 100+ items but it ranged alot from 50 to a couple of hundred I think checking it out will help.
muslins
nappies
nappy cream
change mat
zipper onsies
couple of blankets or Swaddles depending on lifestyle
somewhere to sleep
mattress protectors
sheets
towel
baby bath (optional)
baby wrap (optional)
thermometer
dry / wet bag
nappy bag
car seat
pram
good playlists
food in freezer / take away budget
if bottle feeding:
bottles
formula
cleaning things
if breast feeding/pumping:
breast pads
nipple cream or silverets
pillow
haka
freezer bags
-
pump
you:
your choice of pads / Underwear for the recovery period
peri bottle
spray for disinfecting or numbing
belly band (optional)
snacks
as many people as you can con into doing other child care, house care and providing you with tlc.

The way I look at it is add EVERYTHING, because so many sites offer discounts to purchase off the registry within a certain time frame of delivery, so I did. I added like 120 items, but even tiny items, like spoons for later, bibs, soap, nail clippers, silicone bowls, little organization pouches for me, postpartum supplies. Best case, people buy things I want! Worst cases I don’t get much and I get a discount buying the stuff I wanted!

first of all, do not feel guilty!!! This is a time for celebration! ��
I would put car seat/stroller combo, play gym, bouncer, sit me up, baby wearing gear, post partum supplies, burp rags, receiving blankets, multiple sizes for sleepers/onsies, diaper cream/grooming kit, bath necessities.

I think it would be a good idea to focus on things you will need in the first 6 months. People will be more likely to get you what you will need in the first 6 months if that’s all that’s on your registry. My favorite thing was watching baby essential videos on YouTube. There will be things you might want that others say is unnecessary and there will be things you think you need that you might now use at all.
Some things I think all moms should at least have 1 or a few of to start are-
-sound machine
-swaddles
-7-10 sleepers in each size (NB, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9)
-place to put baby
-pack n play, bassinet or crib or all three
-2-3 crib sheets
-diapers, wipes, diaper cream
-vitamin D drops if breastfeeding
-nipple cream
-nursing pillow if nursing
-some type of bottle (I love tommee tippee)
-pacifier to try
-burp clothes (we also used flannel blankets are burp clothes)
-cheap bouncy seat or lounger

One of the ways to look at it as many registries have the completion discount at the end. I felt weird putting everything in their but so many of my mom friends told me to so if you end up buying it for yourself at least you get the discount! I’m also making sure there are really cheap items on there and/or letting people know they can get gift cards. I’ve watched a lot of videos and almost everyone swears by food delivery gift cards. So even if someone got you $20 to Uber eats it’s not breaking the bank for them and still helpful for you!

Consider who may be buying from the registry, and that may help (number of items, cost, ease of purchase, etc). As I see it, babies don’t actually neeeeed much. A place to sleep, something to wear, a way to clean baby, a way to transport baby, and a way to feed baby. Consider your lifestyle, consult guides or other discussions in here, and go from there. It’s overwhelming but babies are simple - no need to over complicate it!

Put everything you think you would need or want on registry and just see what people will buy! Even if it’s expensive. Someone of my family members went in on the big stuff together
